Mission Teams

We have two mission teams on campus going several different directions. There are two groups from Calvary Chapel San Diego. One of them just spent several days in Cajamarca where they ministered with Pastor Diego. They are back now and will be helping us do some repairs, upgrades, etc... around campus through next Friday to help us get ready for our upcoming Spring semester. The other group came in last night and they will be heading up to Ventanilla to minister with Pastor Raul. Great group of people.

The second team just came in about 15 minutes ago from First Baptist Church of Bossier City, La. I've only known them about 15 minutes, but they already look like a great group.

It's 2:30am here and time for Dwayne to get some rest!

Jannett and Katy

Here are Jannett and Katy at our New Year's Eve Service.

December Newsletter

Christmas

I must admit that it was a little different for us. We really missed caroling, Christmas plays, cantatas and everything that we have grown accustomed to seeing this time of year. Of course, after being in the “center of the storm”, so to speak, as a senior pastor, everything is a little slower. However, we did have a good time with our new family and friends here in Peru. We had a special Christmas Eve service and I was asked to share. I spoke from Luke 2 and shared how that just as there was no room at the inn for Jesus then, many tell him that there is no room for him in their lives today. It was a good time with our church family here.

Christmas Crafts

Jannett also had a good time with the students and staff during the holiday. She got them all together and taught them how to make cookies to hang on the Christmas tree that we put up on campus. They had an awesome time. Almost everything on the tree is handmade. I.e. popcorn strings, cookies, dolls, etc… It is real pretty and brought a lot of life to the campus through the holiday. The birds have gotten into the Christmas spirit as well by eating the popcorn strings right off the tree!

Language School

The boys and I will be returning to language school on January 6th to continue our studies in Spanish. Sometimes, the frustration levels are high, but we are learning a lot and are sometimes shocked at how much we can speak at times. I feel very strongly about learning the language of the people that we are trying to minister to and with.

Next Semester

The Spring Semester will be on us before we know it. Part of my responsibilities here on campus is registration and admissions. I’ve been talking to students from all over the world about coming to study with us. It really is beginning to look like it will be an excellent semester. The students will be studying Systematic Theology, Apologetics, Genesis, Revelation, Acts, Romans and Inductive Bible Study. We have visiting teachers coming from San Diego, CA. and Ecuador. I am really looking forward to getting back into the classroom as well.

The Boys

The boys are still very well. They just finished their first semester of school and are taking a much needed break before starting back up in January. One of the missionary families invited them to spend a few days with them at Kawai beach. They just got back yesterday and they apparently had a great time. Both of them are pretty sun burnt but no worse for the wear. They have also been asked to lead worship at an upcoming youth retreat in February. We are very proud of them.
